The article defines postmodernism as an era with no beliefs and doesn't believe in meta narratives.

Barthes suggested that a writer's opinions, interpretation or intentions of their own work are not any more valid than anyone else which means that he challenges tradition.

3) What is metatextuality?

Metatextuality is where a text reinforces the idea that its a text.

4) What is the repeated phrase on the cartoon on postmodernism on page 28?

'Postmodernism is a cultural movement that distrusts all established philosophies and frequently experiments with the medium its presented in'

5) How does postmodernism link to media representations and reality?

Postmodernism makes a parody out of anything serious, which is seen in media representation through hyper reality.


Music video CSPs and postmodernism

Now apply postmodern ideas to our music video CSPs by answering the following questions:

1) How does the music video for Ghost Town incorporate elements of postmodernism?

Pastiche: replicating subcultures
Time space and confusion: unaware of where they're driving to
Intertextuality: film noir, hammer horror, neo expressionism

2) What film genres are alluded to in the music video for Ghost Town? Which scenes in particular created these links?

Horror: the low-key lighting used throughout the music video is a convention in horror films.

3) How does Old Town Road use postmodern elements in its music video?

Bricolage: mix of both modern era and old time era
Parody: Chris Rock scenes, horse race
Time space and confusion: travelling through both 20th and 21st century


4) How does the Old Town Road music video reflect technological convergence and modern digital culture?  

This is shown through the different form of transport as it showed them leaving in a horse instead of a car.

5) What do YOU think Lil Nas X was trying to say about reality and American culture in the music video for Old Town Road?

I think that Lil Naz X might've been trying to show that people are more connected in real life than how its presented in the media.

 For this video I've worked with Gurleen, Sandeep and Rukiya in order to create a sinister drama/crime scene.For this scene, we used a drama room to establish the idea of an interrogation happening. Film & TV Language: Mise-en-scene recreation practical task

PLAN: The Blair Witch Project-apology scene C- In order to re-create the original character's costume, the actor wore a durag in the place of a winter hat.   L-There was use of a flashlight to create a harsh, almost artificial light on his face which created two deeply contrasting colours on his face to emphasise mystery and sorrow due to the atmosphere being gloomy. A- We made sure he displayed extreme vulnerability and sorrow, in order to mirror the original character. M- No makeup was used. This perfectly re-created the simple look of the original character.  P- There were no props involved.  S- This was filmed in a room with a black background to elevate the dullness in the room.   Script: In a dark pitch room, a   harsh light  casts shadows on his face, which displays a deeply sorrowful  expression  as he apologizes to everyone with teary eyes and regrets.
